Queanbeyan South is a modern diverse primary school currently serving about 450 students in a large city centre,close to Canberra. There are 38 cultural backgounds represented at the school. The school has two outstanding Opportunity Classes that cater for gifted and talented students from schools in our district. This is balanced by a strong support network for students with learning difficulties including a multi-categorical class. Early intervention needs are addressed through the Ngurranbai on-site transition to school program.The school is dedicated to equity and excellence in education and literacy and numeracy remain a major focus through the Priority Schools Program. This is enhanced with state of the art technology throughout the school including video conferencing facilities,individual laptop and computer laboratories and every classroom is fitted with internet and interactive whiteboard technology. The school's purpose is 'Striving to Care and to Learn' which encourages all children to aspire to high expectations.
