Education QLDÂ introduces Coreen School in Blacktown, for all your education and learning needs.
Coreen School is a NSW State School catering for high school students with an intellectual disability and an emotional or behavioural disorder (IM/ED).
The school is located at Blacktown in the Western Sydney Region. Coreen is a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school where the emphasis is on managing student behaviour through an emphasis on known expectations, social skills training and positive reinforcement. PBL is a Western Sydney initiative that follows the PBIS procedures of Dr Tim Lewis.
Coreen operates under a structure similar to the typical high school with specialist teachers taking subjects and students moving between lessons in a 7 period day. There are 3 IM/ED schools in the Western Sydney Region and in 2009 Coreen is the only one offering a Stage 6 (Year 11/12) program. This will likely see an increasingly large number of senior students in the school and create a focus on training students for post school options. Students range in age from 11 to 18 years and benefit from individual and small groups.
Welcome to Coreen School one of the popular educators in your Blacktown area. Our aim is help you in your learning journey.
We endeavour to celebrate each other’s uniqueness by providing opportunity for all and to develop a culture that identifies that the journey towards excellence is often paved with trial and error, risk taking, learning from mistakes, flexibility and adaptability. We believe that encouraging students to take ownership of the learning is critical in achieving the best learning outcomes and that implicit in this concept is that students learn their own areas of strength and areas of development, through useful and explicit feedback.
